1. Biggest Influence(s)?
My biggest influences in no particular order are: Elvis, Jerry Lee, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, James Burton, Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Vaughan, Doyle Bramhall, Albert Collins, Albert King, Freddie King, Muddy, Wolf, Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Allman Brothers, Derek & the Dominos, Eddie Hinton, most things recorded in Muscle Shoals & Stax, most things The Memphis horns play on, King Curtis, Aretha, The Staples, The Band, Creedence, Gram Parsons, Billy Preston, 68-72 Stones, Delaney & Bonnie, Ry Cooder, Cornell Dupree, Bob Dylan, Donny Hathaway, Charlie Rich....and so on.
2. Favourite records/tracks old or new?
My two favourite albums are probably King Curtis live at Fillmore West and Derek & The Dominos - the Layla album. If I was about to die and someone asked me what I wanted to hear, it would probably be Good Rockin' Tonight by Elvis Presley - it doesn't really get much better than that.
3. What would you be if not a musician?
I am already a photographer, so I'd be that.
4. Career high point so far?
Sitting in with Bonnie Bramlett at Cargo in 2006, and then with Matt Schofield at 100 Club last year, and most recently recording for Ian Siegal's next album.
5. Perfect night off?
Having a steak and a glass of wine in front of a couple of films, sprawled out on my sofa with my wife and my dog. Or a boy's poker night!
6. Most recent CD in your CD player?
Albert Collins 'Truckin' - only just got around to buying it.
7. Favourite book/film?
My favourite book tends to be whatever I've just read, so in this case 'Skydog' - Duane Allman's biography. My favourite films are Paris Texas, The Godfathers 1 & 2, The Deer Hunter, Cool Hand Luke, The Chase (1965), Rio Bravo...
8. Whiskey - Jack or Jim?
I don't really drink spirits, so I'd prefer an Adnams really.
