Grego Anderson was born in Northern Michigan in 1968, far away from blues music and musicians. In the mid 80's, he heard a sound that would change the direction of his life...Texas Flood appeared on his radio late one night, and with the discovery of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Grego started tracing back the roots of the music that is now his passion. In 1990, He put all his belongings in a beat up 1972 volkswagon and headed for Austin, Texas. " I read on the Live Alive album cover that Stevie Ray was in Austin, and I figured that would be the place I would learn about blues music, and try to make my living being associated with it."
"I tried being a guitar player, but it really isn't my strength as an artist...what I did discover was that I could paint...it took a few years to get the hang of it, and when my friends started saying they wanted one I knew I was onto something. I took some down to a local folk art gallery, and just like that I was a professional painter...a five year overnight success."
"I had worked in t-shirt shops doing art since I moved here, and I decided to start a
clothing line to go along with the paintings. I sat down with a book on websites, and taught myself enough to create Mojohand.com...the worlds only international blues mall. It gave me a place to sell all of my work - shirts, concert posters and paintings to a global audience. To my surprise, there are people
just like me all over the world - crazy for blues music, obsessed with it."
"In the past 3 years of operation, I have shipped to over 30 countries, met many of my blues idols and got to meet thousands of blues fans all over the world thru emails and at festivals...it's really been a dream come true...I don't know how long it will last, But I am going to enjoy every minute of it."
Grego's work has appeared in dozens of galleries in the USA as well as major magazines and a big coffee table book called "the art of modern rock - the poster explosion"
Grego has also appeared on the GOOGLE/CURRENT tv network and is featured in the soon to be released documentary on Lightnin Hopkins " when lightnin Strikes" Grego appears weekly, playing lap steel with the Freight Train Troubadours, around South Austin clubs.
