Hank Williams, lefty Frizell, The Gosdin Brothers, Johnny Paycheck, Del Reeves, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Red Simpson, Dick Curless, George Jones, Walon, the list is really too long. . .it changes all the time, I’m constantly re-discovering stuff I skimmed over before. . .But Hank has been there since I was a kid.

Right now it’s Waylon’s early version of ‘The Real House Of the Rising Sun’.

3. What would you be if not a musician?
A woodworker, that’s what I do for money anyway.

4. Career high point so far?
Backing up Charlie Louvin and Jimmie Rivers and also playing with Vance Terry.

5. Perfect night off?
Cooking fish over a campfire, drinkin’ Coors.

Big Smith and Family (gospel) recorded live in some church somewhere.

7. Favourite book/film?
The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck and Night of the Hunter with Robert Mitchum

Jim Beam (the worlds finest) ‘cept it always gets me in bed with large ladies or in a fist fight (usually when I’m too drunk
to defend myself).
