George Jones, Elvis, Sam Lightning Hopkins...listened to a lot of my parents rockabilly, honky tonk and blues records...

3. What would you be if not a musician?
Definitely be a chef somewhere...all the men in my family cook...it’s a Texas/Louisiana thang...Gumbo...Ettoufee...Jambalaya...

4. Career high point so far?   
Playing guitar for Waylon (Jennings)...touring w/ Willie (Nelson)...playing President Bill Clinton’s Inaugral Ball in DC...singing the national anthem at the Astros baseball game...

5. Perfect night off?   
Grabbing a few bottles of vino...turning on some Willie...making a big pot of seafood Gumbo...stay inside and have friends over...maybe later smoke a jazz-cigarette and get laid!

6. Most recent CD in your CD player?   
The Frida Khalo soundtrack...great Mexican music!

7. Favourite book/film?   
100 years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a great book...love Hunter S. Thompson’s - Rum Diaries...Norman Mailer’s - Young Picasso...those are great books that have changed me for sure.  Film...that’s another thing...Goodfellows...Lonesome Dove, (also a killer book!)...To Kill a Mockingbird, (another great book!)...the new Capote film is great.

8. Whiskey - Jack or Jim?  
Whiskey...almost as controversial as Bar-B-Que...Whiskey is either Scotch or Bourbon...
I drink Bourbon (unless I’m in Scotland or Ireland!)...real Bourbon (like Jim) is from Kentucky, not Tennesse (like Jack)...even before I was sponsored by Jim Beam it was the only one that mattered.  Jack is owned by a bunch of Wallstreeters...Jim is family owned and operated.  Jim doesn’t have as much sugar and it’s smoother...why do ya think Sinatra drank Jack and Coke?...you gotta mix that shit w/ something to help it go down!  Make it a Jim bartender...what do I want w/ it?...ummm...a glass!
