NAME: Carmen Lee
INSTRUMENT(s): Vocals/Piano
CURRENT RELEASE:
I am hoping to release a CD of originals sometime in 2008. I'm trying to do this all on my own and I'm not with a label or anything....so all I have at the present is a small 5 song live/demo of originals entitled 'Carmen Lee Live'. I don't have them for sale on line or anything but if anyone is interested they can contact me through my myspace page.

1. Biggest Influence(s)?
I'd have to say Elvis Presley first and foremost. An old Elvis cassette tape was the first music I ever bought when I was around 12 years old....so I was definitely most influenced by him. Other great influences are Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Roy Orbison, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Horton, Neil Young and so many more.... but those would be the top ones.
2. Favourite records/tracks old or new?
That's a tough one...there is so much great music out there and I find more and more of it each day. I love all the old stuff from the Sun Records Era of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, etc... I guess I'd have to say:
1. Anything by Elvis (especially.... 'That's All Right’
2. Anything by Johnny Cash (esp... the album 'Live at Folsom
Prison')
3. Anything by Johnny Horton (esp.....'Honkytonk Man')
4. Anything by Patsy Cline (esp.... her version of Hank
William's 'Lovesick Blues')
5. George Jones and Tammy Wynette duets...(esp... '(We're
Not) The Jet Set')
6. Anything by Bob Dylan (esp...the albums 'Bringing it All
Back Home (Subterranean Homesick Blues) and 'Nashville
Skyline')
7. Anything by Hank Williams
8. Anything by Roy Orbison
3. What would you be if not a musician?
That's a tough one too! Well, I do love shopping and fashion...so if I could be a professional shopper!?:-)
4. Career high point so far?
Being included in the compilation CD put together by the folks at IBWIP....I feel honored to be part of it and glad that proceeds are going to a good cause...the Hank Williams Museum. It feels good to be part of something that is 'for' something and with people who support 'real' music.
5. Perfect night off?
Just any night in which I feel good. It would be heaven to get a good nights sleep, feel refreshed and be free from aches and pains:-)
6. Most recent CD in your CD player?
The Roots of Rockabilly 1940-1953 (disc 3)
7. Favourite book/film?
Well, of course I like Elvis movies. I also like Tim Burton films and most films with Johnny Depp (esp..'Cry Baby')
also off-beat comedies and classic horror and zombie movies-but if I had to pick a favorite I'd have to choose the original 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre':-)
8. Whiskey - Jack or Jim?
I don't drink due to health reasons, but if I did I'd have to say I prefer vodka:-)
