Brian has recently put together a new trio called '68 Comeback special which features Brian along with two members of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, drummer Bernie Dresel and bass player Mark W. Winchester.
It all started when Brian decided to have a bit of fun and play a few gigs as a trio and try out some new songs he'd written. The couple of shows in Southern California went down so well that it was soon decided to organise a world tour.
Even though this new project is turning out so well he says it certainly won't be the end of the Orchestra. To help promote the tour Brian decided to go into the studio and record the new songs and release a CD. This visit to the studio produced 'Ignition`. The new CD is described as hot-rodded rockabilly roots music and the live shows will include a lot of new songs, some revved up Stray Cats classics and stripped down versions of BSO tunes.
Brian is heading back to England in the future. If the CD is anything to go by we should be in for a night of kick ass modern rockabilly and surf. Just like the George Thorogood gig, I know I have to be there. In fact many years ago when Brian released his second solo album 'Live Nude Guitars` it was rumoured that he would visit Britain with George Thorogood & The Destroyers as a double bill, what a night that would`ve been.
Anyway, if modern rockabilly and surf is your bag then you should track down a copy of 'Ignition` and experience the 14 brand new hot rod songs and makeout tunes. And why did he pick the name ? "Because it`s cool". Nuff said!
