1. Biggest Influence(s)?
It’s gotta be The Clash very closely followed by Springsteen and Dave Alvin and Tom Russell and Steve Earle and Joe Ely.....Thats not all of them by any means but it'll do to start with.......
2. Favourite records/tracks old or new?
The Clash...London Calling
Springsteen...The River / Nebraska
Dave Alvin.... Blackjack David
Steve Earle....Exit O / El Corazon and just about all the others too!
Joe Ely loads of individual tracks over the years.......
Favourite all time song?? Probably The River by Springsteen and also White Man in Hammersmith Palais by The Clash
3. What would you be if not a musician?
Well.....I like to dream that I'd have made a reasonably good actor but in all reality I'd probably still be working on either the demolition or building....usually driving machines and lamping scrap up!
4. Career high point so far?
Being in the position today that I can earn a living by playing music..it really does make me feel very, very fortunate ....... that and.... having been lucky enough to live in the US for a lot of '99 and the fact that it was my guitar that got me there and fed me......
5. Perfect night off?
I know this will sound dull but a night off from gigging and being able to just chill out with my girl and a bottle of red wine with all of our dogs sitting about the front room is heaven!
6. Most recent CD in your CD player?
Well the last CD played is one my daughter just gave me by a young band called The King Blues which is really noisy and great fun......the last one I bought for myself was a collection by The Tom Russell Band called Raw Vision.....not a bad song on there!!!
7. Favourite book/film?
Loads...........
Books: 'Forged in Fury' by Micheal Elkins is always there also 'Badlands an American Romance' by Jonathan Raban is great too.... as is 'Fields of fire' one of the very best books ever about young soldiers in Vietnam by James Webb which I bought many years ago and am reading yet again as we speak..... awesome and intense and frightening and horrific all at the same time............
Films: Its gotta be 'The Deerhunter' at the top very closely followed by 'The Godfather' triology (yes all of them but especially 1 and 2!) then a more modern film would probably be 'The Departed' with Ray Winstone in horribly top form.heh heh!
8. Whiskey - Jack or Jim?
Jack and Coke...boring I know......occasionally just neat with loads of ice but also occasionally ........(you'll hate this one!!)..over ice with loads of peppermint cordial.......good for yer voice when horse and husky!!!
